Ryde R. C. Awards Presentation Evening. Saturday, 11th December, 2021.

Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club celebrated another successful season at an Awards Presentation at their Clubhouse on Saturday (11th December,  2021) with all Covid-19 precautions taken.  

The Club Captain Graham Reeve welcomed around forty members and guests and thanked them for attending and for their support of the Club over the last year with a special thanks to the Clubs main sponsors Wightlink. 

Following a presentation on the Clubs achievements in 2021, that included the Hants & Dorset Junior Coastals Sculls Championship, runners up for the Hants & Dorset ARA Mens Senior Fours, Junior Pairs and Single Sculls, and a win in the Open Junior Senior Fours at the South Coast Championship regatta the Clubs joint Rowing/Vice Captains, Joel Smith and Paddy Kearney,  presented the Clubs Annual Awards. The Coxswain's Cup was awarded to Camon Adams, the First Year Oarsman Trophy was awarded to Bradley Whiting and the First Years Ladies Trophy to Stella Baisley. Joel Smith received the Oarsman of the year award and Emily Faithfull was awarded the Oars lady of the year award. The Coaches Cup was awarded  by the Clubs Joint Rowing Captain Joel Smith to Paddy Kearney and the Committee Cup to Niamh Murphy. The Captains Cup,  awarded by Club Captain Graham Reeve, was presented to Beth Walpole. Finally the traditional "First Hants & Dorset ARA win" Club spoons – a tradition that goes back more than seventy years were awarded to Ben Sanderson, Emily Faithfull, Beth Walpole, Julie Clark, Stella Baisley and Ella Nichols. There were also special awards to long serving committee member and former Club Secretary Carol Hewision on her retirement from the Committee.

Sponsors, supporters and helpers of Ryde Rowing Club were entertained at an informal gathering at their Clubhouse on Friday evening (22ndth January) to thank them for their support during the last year.

After a welcome and thanks from Club Captain Peter Allsopp, and a short presentation on the clubs activities and successes in 2015 - which included South Coast Championship open wins the Men's Novice Four, Single Sculls and Coastal Junior Pair - a presentation was made to Angela Clark - for her volunteer work at the Club. A presentation was also made to Felicity Radak, a Fundraiser with Isle of Wight Youth Trust, who - working in conjunction with Wightlink - were the Clubs nominated charity in 2015. 

Following various fund raising activities -  the club was able to hand over a cheque for £500 to the Isle of Wight Youth Trust who ara charitable independent and professional organisation offering counselling, advice, information and support services to young people under 25 on the Isle of Wight and, in some cases their parents or carers.
