2nd 100+ Club Talk/Fish & Chip Supper of the Season. Stuart Bennett on Ethiopian Northern Trails.

The 100+ Club Talks and Fish & Chip Suppers returned for another season on the 17th February and we are now notifying you of the March Event.

So the second Talk/Supper will be on THURSDAY, 31st March and will be by Stuart Bennett on Ethiopian Northern Trails.

Covid-19 Precautions and Restrictions will be in place - see below - and we may have to limit numbers on a first come first serve basis.

ALSO – MONTHLY “100+ CLUB” CASH DRAW AND RAFFLE.

All Club & 100+ Club Members plus family and friends welcome subject to limit on numbers attending.

Unfortunately we have been forced to increase the charge to £10 for the FISH & CHIP SUPPER following an increase in the charge made for the Fish & Chips.

The Southern Water Authority engineering works in the area of our Clubhouse are now nearing completion and access to Ryde Rowing Club Clubhouse is now much easier although some work is still continuing and access to the Car Parks are still restricted. 

It is planned to continue the talks/Fish & Chip Supper monthly - on the last Thursday of the month - until November when we will take a short break over Christmas and the New Year. Talks planned to date are - 

Thursday 28th April – Kevin Shaw - The Charge of the Light Brigade – Tennyson’s Poem & the Crimean War.

Thursday 26th May – Adrian Searle – Churchill’s last wartime secret.

Thursday 30th June – Dr John Pollard – Know (no) more than your doctor

Thursday 28th July - Mark Earp – Queen Victoria on the Isle of Wight  ‘Tales of the expected and the unexpected’.

Thursday 25th August – Terry Nigh – Postcards of the Isle of Wight.

Thursday 29th September - To be advised.

Thursday 27th October – Martin Woodward – The tragic sinking of the SS ‘Mendi’ off the Isle of Wight in 1917.

Thursday 24th November – Philip Norman – (to be continued …)

Covid-19 Precautions and Restrictions

The Covid-19 Bar Opening Restrictions we have to have inforce are listed below -

Before entering the Lounge it is recommended that you use the Hand Sanitizer provided.

We will impose the following conditions -

1) Those attending MUST book in advance -  TEL: IW 613077 OR EMAIL : steph.hickman1944@gmail.com   - but there is no longer any need to sign in or to scan the QR code with their NHS COVID-19 App - the QR code has now been removed.

2) The Bar will be open from 7.30pm to 10.45pm – and must be closed by 11.00pm

3) It is recommended that Hand sanitisers still be used on entry to the lounge.

4) Preferably payment by Credit card or smart phone.

5) Alcohol only to be served in bottles or cans.

6) Attending members are welcome to wear masks until they are seated and if they leave their table but this is no longer compulsory.

7) No one who feels ill or has Covid-19 symptoms should attempt to enter the Clubhouse.
