POOLE REGATTA. Saturday, 2nd July, 2022 and HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA. WEDNESDAY, 29th JUNE to SUNDAY, 3rd JULY.

Following the disappointment of the cancelled Southsea Regatta on the 25th June, 2022 – there was further disappointment for the Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club crews and Scullers when Poole Regatta, scheduled for Saturday, 2nd July was also cancelled due to the high winds forecast for Poole. Fortunately Poole Rowing Club who host the Poole Regatta were also able to cancel the regatta on the Friday evening saving unnecessary travel and allowing the Club to cancel its booking on the Wightlink Car Ferry. This cancellation was particularly disappointing for the Ryde Club as they had one of the largest entries of the season to date.

However the Club did have one member of the Club racing during the week – Dale Buckett – competing for his mainland Club – Upper Thames Rowing Club – raced in a coxless four in the Wyfold Cup at Henley Royal Regatta – the best known Rowing Regatta in the World - the crew performing excellently to reach the semi-final where they were defeated by the narrowest of margins – just half a canvas – by N.S.R. Oslo, of Norway. Prior to their semi-final defeat they had fought their way through three rounds – beating London A on Tuesday, Marlow Rowing Club by two and a half lengths on the Wednesday and the Shandon Boat Club of Ireland by one and half lengths on the Thursday.
