Ryde Regatta 2022 – a Thank-you.

On behalf of the Officers, Committee and Regatta Committee can I thank you for your help at the recent Ryde Club Regatta although the event itself was unfortunately abandoned after only two events had been held due to the prevailing conditions. This was most unfortunate – and the first time that we have had to abandon a Ryde Regatta in over thirty years!

In spite of the disappointment of having to abandon the Regatta the help and support of our members and supporters with the tasks required over the regatta weekend and the generous donation of a stunning array of cakes – meant that the Regatta was not a complete loss. We would clearly struggle to run such a normally successful and popular event without your support.

In spite of the abandonment the Regatta our catering teams and bar staff worked hard and sold most of the refreshments provided which has helped to mitigate the loss we have probably made on the event as a whole. Some hi- lights are indicated below for your interest.

It would seem unlikely that we will be able to re-stage the event this year.

Again my thanks for your help and I hope we can rely on you again next year.

Steve Bull,

Regatta Secretary.

REGATTA FACTS:

The Regatta, including late entries, had an entry of 91 crews and scullers – this would probably been more – in late entries – had the full Regatta gone ahead.

The regatta itself, less Bar & Catering, will probably have made a small loss.

The Bar take over the weekend was £1479.30 – up on last year the Regatta was held in 2019.

The BBQ, Teas & Coffees, Cakes, Chili, Pims and Raffle made a profit of £1,327.26.  Plus we catered for 28 Breakfasts on the Sunday which made a profit of £87.
