Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club celebrated the 2022 season at an Awards Presentation evening at their Clubhouse on Saturday (26th November, 2022). This was after many of the Clubs rowers had been due to compete in the Newport Head of the Medina scheduled for earlier in the day which unfortunately had to be a abandoned due to the conditions.
The newly elected Club President, Steve Cook, welcomed around forty members and guests and thanked them for attending and for their support of the Club over the last year with a special thanks to the Clubs main sponsors Wightlink.
Following a presentation on the Clubs achievements in 2022, that included a win in the Open Junior Senior Fours at the South Coast Championship regatta the Clubs newly elected Club Captain, Ben Sanderson and Rowing Captain, Paddy Kearney, presented the Clubs Annual Awards. The Coxswain's Cup was awarded to Mai McKay, the First Year Oarsman Trophy was awarded to Issac Gibson. Bradley Whiting received the Oarsman of the year award and Niamh Murphy was awarded the Oars lady of the year award. The Coaches Cup, awarded by the Clubs Rowing Captain, went to Dale Buckett and the Committee Cup to retiring President Pete Allsopp. The Captains Cup, awarded by the retiring Club Captain, Graham Reeve, was presented to Dan Sanderson. Finally the traditional "First Hants & Dorset ARA win" Club spoons – a tradition that goes back more than seventy years were awarded to Will Hall, Bradley Whiting, Paddy Kearney and Elliott O'Sullivan.
