Ryde R. C. Presentation to Wight Aid Foundation.
/Sponsors, supporters and helpers of Ryde Rowing Club were entertained at an informal gathering at their Clubhouse on Friday evening (27th January) to thank them for their support during the last year. Guests included Kay Marriott the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight and the under sheriff April Newton, who used to row for the Club, Geoff Underwood, representing the Clubs nominated charity for 2023, the WightAid Foundation - and representatives from the IW Sports Foundation as well as around forty other sponsors and supporters of the club - including the Mayor Of Ryde, Councillor Michael Lilley.
The Club President - Steve Cook welcomed and thanked all those in attendance and offered a special thanks to the Clubs main sponsors Wightlink and to the main Regatta Sponsor TLM Laser. The Club Captain, Ben Sanderson, then talked briefly about the Clubs activities and success in 2022 which included the winning of the South Coast Junior Senior Fours Open event and this was followed by a short audio visual presentation on the Clubs activities and achievements in 2022.
The Club Captain then made a presentation to Geoff Underwood of the WightAid Foundation, who - working in conjunction with Wightlink - are the Clubs nominated charity for 2023. Following various fund raising activities - the club was able to hand over a cheque for £250 to the WightAid Foundation.
Kay Marriott, the IW High Sheriff then made a presentation to Club Trustee and Committee Member, Steve Bull, in recognition of great and valuable services to the community for his fifty years of service to the Ryde Rowing Club.
