Itchen Junior Regatta. Saturday 3rd October 2026.

Junior crews from the Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club competed in the Itchen Imperial Rowing Clubs Junior Regatta on Saturday (3rd October 2026) over a short 450 metre course on the River Itchen, Southampton. Racing was mainly in River boats, over the straight course with no racing turn - for various categories and boat types for Boys and Girls from twelve to sixteen years. The regatta format was three boat racing with many events involving heats.

Ryde Rowing Club only had a few crews and scullers competing this year.

Ryde three Open Boys River J16 Scullers – Joe Bird, Max Locke and Cameron Darcy all finished 2nd in their respective Heats – failing to make the final.

The Open Boys River J16 double scull of Max Locke and Cameron D’Arcy were impeded by the home club Itchen off the start – and protested – but this was not upheld and the crew finished 3rd in their heat, failing to make the final.

Finally, Rosie Morris in the Girls J12/13 Single Scull also had an issue at the start where she was impeded – and again the resulting protest was not upheld - Rosie finishing 3rd in her heat and failing to make the final.

In the Open Boys J14 River Double. Ryde’s Harry Watts paired with Shanklin’s Louie Laider-Jones and they finished 2nd in their Final.

In the Open J15 Coastal Quad Ryde’s Harry Watts competed in a composite with Shanklin’s Andri Loboda, Evan Black and Louie Laider-Jones coxed by Jane Denby-Roach and finished 2nd in their Final and Ryde’s coxed Newport’s Boys Open J16 River Four.
