Christchurch Head of the Stour. Sunday, 8th March 2026.

Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Clubs crews and scullers competed in the Christchurch Rowing Club Head of the Stour, a processional race over 2.7km, held over two divisions on the River Stour on Sunday, 8th March, 2026.

In Division one the Ryde Club had four single scullers competing - Issac Gibson in the Open Coastal Novice Sculls where he finished 2nd in a time of 11:50. The Club also had two Open J15 Single Scullers – Joe Bird – who also finished in 2nd place in his event – in a time of 12:56. And Max Locke, who finished 3rd in a time of 13:10. Finally – Charlie Watts – competed in the Open J18 Single Sculls event finishing in 3rd place in a time of 11:29.

In the 2nd Division the Club had an Open Double – of Joe Bird and Max Locke who finished in first place against admittedly limited opposition, in a time of 12:13 and an Open Coastal Senior Four of Paddy Kearney, Joe Roberts, Will Hall, Charlie Watts with Mai Read coxing who finished 2nd in their section in a time of 11:12.
