Report on Newport Regatta in the IWCP

The Club made a complaint to the IWCP regarding their coverage of Ryde's performance at Newport Regatta over the weekend of 18th/19th June. 

The point was made that while fully appreciating that Newport as hosts would and should receive most of the coverage it was very disappointing that's Ryde's Senior Fours win - against all odds - in the "blue riband" event of the day received only a passing comment and that there were no photographs of Ryde's four winning crews - the best performance of any of the three Island Clubs over the weekend - in spite of us having a submitted a full report and photographs.

I have since received an apology from the IWCP Sports Editor.

As well as the "blog" on the regatta results there was - and usually is good coverage - of the Club's results on the two main IW on-line news sites - On the Wight at -  http://onthewight.com/sports/ - and the Island Echo - at http://www.islandecho.co.uk/

Our Senior Win Fours win at Newport also had the Sorts Headline in the Southern Evening Echo during the week.

Also - for those of you who pickup the "Island Life" Life style glossy magazine might be interested to know that The Clubs Annual Regatta features in the June/July edition with photographs from the regatta.
