Coalporters Regatta. Saturday, 8th December 2026.

Due to holidays and illness Ryde Rowing Club only had a few crews and a sculler competing at the Coalporters Rowing Club Regatta on Saturday (8th August) - on the River Itchen in Southampton - over a 1500 metre course, with a racing turn and with a maximum of three boat racing so most events involved heats, semi-finals and a final.

The Women’s Senior Four of Alexis Owen, Stella Baisley, Emily Kellermann and Abi Locke with Ruby Read coxing Finished 2nd in their heat, qualifying for the Final as fastest the fastest loser where they Finished 3rd in the twice round final – a good performance as it was the first time they had competed at this distance in a Hants and Dorset Regatta.

The Women’s Novice Four of Demi-Cranham Ede, Abby Bird, Polley Townson, Clare Gordon with Mai Read coxing Finished 2nd in their heat but failed to make the Final.

The Open Junior pairs crew of Lars Groothuis and Lucas Georgiou – who is only a Novice Oarsman - finished 3rd in there heat also failing to make the final and the same fate befell Charlie Watts - who is only a Novice Sculler - racing in the Open Junior Sculls as there is no Novice Sculls at Coalporters Regatta.

Lucas Georgiou also competed in a composite Open Novice Four crew with members of Newport furnishing 2nd in their heat but failing to make the final.
