Members of Ryde Rowing Club travelled to Poole on Saturday (18th July 2026) to compete in the latest Hants & Dorset Regatta – hosted by Poole Rowing Club - off Hamworthy Park, Poole.
The Wightlink sponsored Club had five Fours Crews – one a composite crew with Newport – one double scull and six single scullers competing.
Ryde’s Open Novice Four crew of Luckas Georgiou, Harry Crofts, Max Locke, Cameron Darcy, with Harry Watts coxing rowed well to finish 3rd in their heat – qualifying for the Final where they finished in 4th place.
The Women’s Senior Four of Stella Baisley, Alexis Owen, Fiona Owen, Abi Locke with Ruby Read coxing finished 4th in their Final.
Ryde’s Demi Cranham-Ede and Abi Bird competed as a Composite crew with two Novice Women and a cox from Newport Rowing Club and raced really well to finish 2nd in their Final.
The Ryde Women’s Masters 40 Four of Fiona Owen, Clare Gordon, Abi Locke, Maggie Sanderson with Ruby Read coxing again rowed well to finish 3rd in their Final.
In the mixed fours – the Ryde Crew of Isaac Gibson, Abby Bird, Joe Bird, Clare Gordon with Harry Watts coxing finished 6th in the Final.
The Ryde Club had a J16 Boys Double racing of Max Locke and Cameron D’Arcy - who also raced well to finish 2nd in their final.
Charlie Watts – fresh from competing at the British Rowing Junior Championships at Nottingham on the previous day – again raced well to finish in 2nd place in the final of the Coastal Junior Sculls but suffered the misfortune of his boat breaking in the Open Novice Fours Sculls event forcing him to retire. However, Ryde’s “B” Sculler in the Novice event – Isaac Gibson – sculled really well to finish in 2nd place in his final.
In the Women’s Novice Sculls the Ryde Club had two scullers competing and both made the final where Alexis Owen finished in 2nd place and Stella Baisley finished in 4th place.
Ryde had a Boys J16 Single Sculler – Joe Bird - competing who finished 4th in his final.
Ruby Reed coxed the Newport Junior Senior B Crews who finished 4th in their final.
